The 2017 Superior Man Triathlon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 27th 2017.

Event Schedule:

August 26th: Packet Pickup at Bayview Room above Grandma’s Sports Garden, 425 S Lake Ave. Duluth, MN 55802

1:00 PM – Packet Pickup begins      4:00 PM – Optional Athlete Meeting (Highly recommended to attend)
6:00 PM – Packet Pickup ends

August 27th: Race Day 

(Note: new transition location between Pier B hotel and Bayfront Park. Bike drop off has been moved to Race Day)

4:30 AM – Transition Area opens 
5:45 AM – Wave One loads onto Vista Fleet at Vista Fleet loading zone 
6:05 AM – Wave One departs aboard Vista Fleet
6:30 AM – Wave One race start (Long Course athletes with slower seed times)
6:30 AM – Transition Area closes
6:45 AM – Wave Two loads onto Vista Fleet
6:52 AM – Wave Two departs aboard Vista Fleet
7:10 AM – Wave Two race start (Long Course athletes with faster seed times)
7:30 AM – Wave Two, group one, (41.5 athletes start with slower seed times)    

7:50 AM – Wave Two, group two, (41.5 athletes start with faster seed times)
11:00 AM – Finisher’s Celebration begins (Bayfront Park)
2:00 PM – Awards Ceremony (Bayfront Park)
4:00 PM – All gear must be out of Transition Area

Packet Pick up:

Athlete check in and packet pick-up will be on Saturday, August 26th, newly located at the Bayview Room above Grandma’s Sports Garden, 425 S Lake Ave. Duluth, MN 55802.

We recommend accessing the Bayview Room from the rear entry steps which are located in the parking lot connected to Bellisios/Grandma’s Sports Garden. 

Athletes must pick up their packet on Saturday, they will not be able to check in or pick up their packet on race day. Timing straps, athlete guides, race maps and race shirts will be given out at Packet Pick up. VIP athletes will receive their wave placement in their mailed race packet a few days before the race. All other athletes will get their wave assignments at packet pick up.

Athletes are required to check in and pick up their own race packet. Family and friends will not be able to pick up athletes race packets. VIP+ athletes will have an expedited line for checking in.

Note: Bike drop off has been moved to Sunday, August 27th, race morning. 

Bike mechanics from Twin Ports Cyclery will be available at packet pick up, from 1 to 6pm, to assist with bike adjustments. They will be located near the back of the building off the main parking lot to Bellissios/Grandma’s Sports Garden. Due to the early load time on race morning we recommend doing any last minute bike adjustments on Saturday at packet pick up. 

Spectators and athletes are both allowed into the transition area on Saturday; however, once a bike has entered the transition area it will only be able to be taken out of the transition area by showing proof of a matching number. For security reasons, on Sunday only athletes are allowed inside certain areas of the transition.

All Athletes Must:

  • Pick up their own packet on Saturday, August 26th at the Bayview Room.

  • Have a valid form of I.D.

Race Morning:

Transition area opens at 4:30am. Located between Pier B hotel and Bayfront. Park in the Bayfront Festival Parking lot.

Transition closes at 6:30am.

Athletes will be allowed to bring any gear bikes, bike shoes, run shoes, helmet, etc, into the transition area on race morning. 

Bike mechanics will be available in the transition area from 4:30am to 6:30am.

Athletes will be given an assigned boat wave with their packet. Athletes are required to start with their assigned wave.

The boarding area for the vista Fleet is about a ten minute walk from the transition area.

Drop bags will be given to athletes at packet pick up on Saturday. Athletes will be able to put shoes and clothing in their drop bag on Sunday. These bags will be dropped off by athletes into bins on the Vista Fleet. Following the race athletes will be able to pick up their bags in the transition area.  . 

Athletes will be able to warm up for the swim near the swim exit on race morning.

Body marking will be available outside the transition area starting at 5am. 

Volunteers will be available to answer questions and offer assistance on race morning.
