I related far too much to what was written amongst these pages; I laughed, I cried and I understood - sometimes brain is a little loud, but actually, that’s normal and that’s okay. There were burst out laughing moments, eye rolling moments and heart breaking moments that spoke of loss that anyone who’s lost someone will know. Compton said: “ I’m so excited to be working with Hayley whose videos have me howling with laughter and wincing with recognition.

Hayley Morris started her social media channels in January 2021 after finding herself bored during lockdown, and she instantly went viral. Her hilarious, taboo-smashing comic sketches see her personifying different body parts like “Brain,” “Uterus,” and “Bladder,” dissecting the all-too-relatable internal dialogues that ping back and forth while navigating the challenges of everyday life. I found the first 20 minutes of the book very funny, but afterwards the novelty wore off and it got very tedious. I actually related to some of this book and thought I was going to rate it higher than I ended up doing, but the tone in which this is written is so insufferable that my rating just kept going down and down. However if you're looking for a book to help with the overthinking that comes with anxiety (and the title could lead you to believe you'll get it) then you'd need another book! After that the novelty wears off and it's essentially a comedic autobiography that's more cringe than funny.

The message that stuck the most from these chapters was the idea that everything will work out and you have to go through the failures and roller coaster of emotions to find the right thing that makes you happy.

Eventually, after a lot of thinking, I realised that there are almost eight billion people on earth, and surely we’re mostly doing the same things as each other…. Then it goes into dating, breakups and towards the end takes a darker turn with a family death and therapy. However, the more this book went on, the more it felt so over the top and made topics that should be really important, feel really trivialised. I can see why her content is popular in Instagram format, but as a book it was just too much and I wasn’t sold on it.

It’s frustrating to live like this sometimes but this book makes you feel like you’re not alone, or weird, your brain just wants to protect you from every possible threat!

Along with her funny narrative there’s also the message that it’s ok to be who you are, whether you’re “normal” or neurodivergent. Da ich selbst ja eine Sorgenmaus vor dem Herrn bin, hat mich der Klappentext aber sofort angesprochen und ich habe mich sehr gefreut, das Buch dieses Jahr unter dem Weihnachtsbaum zu finden.Loved this from start to finish and was sad to get to the end but Hayley describes everything in its truest and rawest form. Century was founded in 1981 and immediately established itself as an exceptionally dynamic publisher of bestselling authors, a tradition continued to this day. A refreshing take on some of life’s more serious matters mixed in with the inevitable (and often hilarious) pitfalls of growing up.
