COLD SPRING - The daffodils have made a showy arrival on his hillside overlooking the Hudson, but Rupert Holmes really wants to talk about people pushing up daisies. The Mcmasters Academy does not endorse any murder, only the deletion of people that deserves it and whose demise benefits others without making no innocent suffer.

It felt a bit gimmicky and it took a while until I realized there was actually a story here, and not an actual guide (a tweak in the description could help). The good part in this book is that all McMasters’ students have their reasons to delete and we experience their emotional struggles. He thinks he has planned it all out, but things don’t go quite as he expects, and he eventually finds himself a student at The McMasters Conservatory. For those of you who do not know Colombo, he was a police detective on a long running tv series, his cases where always very very complicated and he meticulously puzzled out each piece.Never fear, that's what McMasters Conservatory for the Criminally Insane aka McMasters Conservatory for the Applied Arts is for. He soon discovers that his thinking is anything but perfect and the police show up on his doorstep moments later. The campus of this "Poison Ivy League" college-its location unknown to even those who study there-is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate. A delightful mix of witty wordplay, breathtaking twists and genuine intrigue, Murder Your Employer will gain you admission into a wholly original world, cocooned within the most entertaining audiobook about well-intentioned would-be murderers you’ll ever hear.

We also follow two of his other classmates, Gemma and Doria, as they learn the skills to both murder their own employers and to avoid getting murdered themselves.

In addition to murder, someone is punished by making it seem as though he liked to have sex with men who dress as women. Disclaimer: This review is not meant to promote the murder of despicable employers, but rather to encourage the enjoyment of this book/audiobook. When Cliff Iverson finds himself wanting to kill his employer, he tries to execute what he feels is the perfect plan. As Holmes takes hairpin turns from irony back to sincerity for his three McMasters pupils, his zany storytelling will delight fans of The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett, all Sherlock Holmes stories, and even those who love tales of arcane and Gothic institutions.

On book reviews: I only review select works of true crime, crime fiction, and historical fiction/mysteries. The author has set himself rules to guide this and future McMasters volumes: Rather than a classic whodunit, where the murder occurs early and then is unspooled, here each thesis is developed and then carried out. Someone in even only a slight (maybe even falsely perceived) position of power over you, and possibly others, who shamelessly used that to their advantage?

The three students are: Cliff Iverson, an aircraft engineer for Woltan Industries, Gemma Lindley, an administrative executive of St. Whilst I did like Cliff and Gemma’s characters, they weren’t enough to make me enjoy the book as a whole.
