When choosing toys for children it's also important not only what we want them to learn, but also how we want them to learn it. The food boxes are made from cardboard so add an extra element of durability you might want to cover in tape or stick back plastic. This week the boys have been reviewing a toy that I wish I’d had when I was younger – except these never existed, and my own as a child was a market barrow [I attribute my love of public speaking to this toy] that I heckled my family with and tried to sell them plastic tomatoes for 50p a bag from. For example, if your child loves playing with cars then why not set up some cones in the driveway and have them race each other?

Strictly Necessary Cookie should be enabled at all times so that we can save your preferences for cookie settings. There are lots of stickers to add which you can use the instructions for, or like me use the packaging and copy! The paper money is made from a thin paper, so care should be taken to avoid any unintentional damage. Loved this Keith Haring toy, it engrossed my 4 year old just as much as it fascinated me - hours of fun, and it looks so good too. From stacking items on shelves to counting coins, the Self-Service Supermarket offers many ways to learn through play. This will ensure that play and learn go hand in hand, allowing learning toys to develop important skills in children during their play-time.

I usually leave assembly to my husband but actually setting up the supermarket was not too bad at all. The Self-Service Supermarket is a fun way for children to learn basic maths skills such as number recognition and counting, for older children they can start to recognise coin values. Similarly to real self-service checkouts, the Self-Service Supermarket has realistic sounds and lights to further stretch your little one’s imagination. Little ones adore role play and pretending that they are doing real life jobs – just like the grown-ups!On top of the stand is an electronic till which has realistic scanning sounds, lights, spoken instructions and a touch-screen display.

I’m hoping that I’m not the only parent who loves the chance to relive their childhood through their own children. When I was asked to review the Casdon Self Service Supermarket, I knew she would be thrilled to help! This role play set is quite impressive in detail, with it’s light sensor for scanning food, chip and pin device, paper receipts and voice commands. That is a bonus of this toy; children can play by themselves, or with siblings and friends and it is still just as much fun. Both of my children enjoy playing with it especially my eight year old daughter who insists to have it in her room to play with her teddy bears.
