That bold, smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed, with a surprising sweetness and long finish, has made Laphroaig the pinnacle experience for Islay single malt. Our packaging is eco-conscious: 100% recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable internal fittings made from recycled materials. Few whiskies are as synonymous with peat as Laphroaig - mention peaty whisky to someone with just a passing interest in single malt and chances are they’ll talk about Laphroaig.

This unique expression begins with the same time-honoured process that goes into our regular 10 Year Old Laphroaig®. Officially licensed in 1815, by owners Donald and Alexander Johnston, Laphroaig Distillery had almost certainly already been producing whisky for a number of years before the excise man came knocking. Laphroaig's unwavering focus on peat and its daringly bold expressions have solidified its place as an iconic name among whisky connoisseurs who seek the ultimate Islay peated experience.Laphroaig® adheres to the SWA Code of Practice for the Responsible Marketing and Promotion of Scotch Whisky © 2023 Laphroaig. The palate shows peat smoke from the first sip plus an undercurrent of honey, finishing with black pepper heat. What sets Laphroaig Distillery apart and makes it truly unique is its unparalleled dedication to peat.

Others can be deceiving - I have a bottle of Ledaig, the Tobermory peated expression, which smells like creme brulee and mashed potato on the nose - not a hint of peat until it hits the tongue. Palate: The Original Cask Strength is sweet and spicy with notes of vanilla, toffee and sea salt along with hints of cinnamon and pepper. The General Wine Company is a family-owned and operated wine merchant in Liphook, Hampshire, England. This Scottish whisky is the original Laphroaig, distilled the same way today as when Ian Hunter invented it more than 75 years ago. Laphroaig 10 gets its distinctive taste from the natural features of Islay, the remote and rugged island off the West Coast of Scotland where the whisky is made.

The palate entry is pleasantly smoky and grainy sweet; the midpalate flavors range from olive brine, seaweed, iodine, and wood smoke to baked pear, toffee and marshmallow. Crafted to a generations-old method on the Scottish island of Islay, is an excellent introduction to peated whisky. A single cask, well aged and independently bottled Laphroaig is the kind of release that we tend to get excited about! Laphroaig whiskies are known for their bold and intense flavors, characterized by the pungent aroma of peat smoke, medicinal notes, and a hint of maritime saltiness. It is extremely aromatic and pungent - you can always tell when someone is drinking a dram of Laphroaig as you can smell the distinct tarriness from the other end of the room.Hilarious to read the bad reviews complaining that it doesn’t taste as good as bourbons like JD or other piss water American rubbish. I have drunk more Laphroaig 10 over the past forty years than all the other whiskies added together.

Aged for ten years, and distilled following the traditions laid down over the last 200 years by a succession of passionate and skilled master distillers. Personally I adore peated whisky, and Laphroaig 10 for me is the benchmark (much like Glenfiddich 12 or Glenmorangie 10 for non-peated whisky). Palate Seaweed-led, with a hint of vanilla ice cream and more than a whiff of notes from the first aid box (TCP, plasters etc). One of whom was Ian Hunter, who laid down the process for Laphroaig 10 more than 75 years ago: and these methods are still followed today. Filled with a pungent, earthy aroma, the sweet nuttiness of barley and the delicate heathery perfume of Islay's streams.
