Music and megapixel imaging both eat away at your memory allocation, and Nokia has improved on past L'Amour models by providing room for expandable memory up to 2GB. Hidden away under the battery, the bundled 128MB MicroSD card isn't hot-swappable and you'll probably want to invest in a larger capacity - but it's a step in the right direction at least. The Toshiba G450 was made with a weird three-disc design. Two discs held the number pad, while a third disc held the display. The compact phone weighed just 57 grams, but usability was (predictably) affected by the idiosyncratic layout. The remote-like appearance of the G450 didn’t find many fans, but the G450 at least got points for functionality, with uses as a phone, MP3 player, HSDPA modem and USB device. Our next fashion-conscious phone was the Samsung Serene. The phone came with an unusual jewellery box design, designed by Bang & Olufsen. The circular keypad was a pain to use (a common flaw in this list), and despite a helping mechanism the phone took some time to open. The battery and SIM card required a screwdriver to access, and the camera was mounted on the side, which made lining up photos difficult. The Nokia Xseries targets a young audience with a focus on music and entertainment. Like the Cseries, it is a mix of both Series 30/40/ feature phones and Series 60/Symbian smartphones.The only exception to the rule (there are many in different series) is the 82xx and 83xx which were very small and light handsets. The Nokia Asha series is an affordable series optimized for social networking and sharing, meant for first time users. All phones run Series 40 except Asha 230 and 50x phones, which run on the Nokia Asha platform. All this makes for a good value proposition – especially since the Nokia 5.4 is now selling for less than when we reviewed it. The Samsung X830 is an interesting phone with a switchblade design, with the number pad hidden beneath the display. The shape of the phone led Samsung to an unusual design decision: a two-column number pad instead of the standard three-column layout. This was a chore to relearn, but did allow the phone to be quite space-efficient.
